Half of Spanish couples do not have sex during menstruation although sexual desire increases

Did you know that there is a menstrual cup with which you can have sex in complete comfort? Well it’s called Ziggy cup and it will change your life. But first we tell you why we know so little about our sexuality in general.

All house if we cross the results of a survey on what Spanish men really know about menstruation with a survey on female sexual behavior in Spain in which it is analyzed how women face sexuality in the different stages of their menstrual cycle and ages.

Studies reveal that more than half of those surveyed have never had sex with their girl during menstruation because neither of them felt like it. For their part, 68% of Spanish women said they did not want to have sex with their period because they were ashamed.

Based on these results, it could be interpreted that, in Spain, sex during menstruation is still seen as a barrier for both men and women. A taboo that has always existed, in fact, most women believe that society still does not see menstruation as something natural, which makes it difficult to cope with the desire for sex during menstruation. And, although three out of 10 women would be willing to have sex using a menstrual cup, they are unaware of its existence.

A possible ally: the menstrual cup

For these cases, there are already products like Ziggy cup by INTIMINA, designed specifically for penetrative sex, which prevent leaks and stains. The Ziggy cup is a reusable extra flat menstrual cup that can be used during penetrative sex. Due to its innovative extra-flat design, it is especially suitable for women with a low cervix and its double edge offers up to 8 hours of protection.

elDiario.es has already launched a descriptive article on menstrual cup where all the advantages of using any of its types instead of pads or tampons are explained in detail. Among others, they are much cheaper, because you buy one for a small price and, although menstrual cups can last up to 10 years, the Ziggy lasts up to two because it has a thinner silicone.

But this one in particular comes with the added value that it allows women to enjoy full sexuality 365 days a year, no matter how much it is. vast majority of respondents make sure you have a higher sex drive during ovulation.

“A full sexuality also translates into a better quality of life. The period is no longer an impediment to sex and orgasms are pleasant experiences that every woman should allow herself throughout the month, “says Pilar Ruiz, communication director of INTIMINA, the Swedish company specializing in intimate hygiene that has carried out these studies and has implemented the design of this special cup with R&D.

Made of biocompatible medical grade silicone and available in a single size, it is an ultra-soft and thin cup, super easy to store discreetly, which will not harm either partner during intercourse.

Sex education is essential

Regarding sexual education, Irene Aterido, sexologist and expert in the menstrual cycle and collaborator of INTIMINA, points out the importance of speaking openly about the rule in couple relationships: “It is essential to treat the subject without prejudice and to involve men in the changes and positive and negative implications of the menstrual cycle ”.

Indeed, the survey revealed that almost half of men continue to comment on the mood of women when they have their periods, and the sexologist argues that “it is difficult for our partner to normalize matters related to menstruation if we ourselves We see it as a taboo subject that we hide from him ”.

What can we share with them?

Let’s start by telling you that female sexual appetite usually varies depending on the moment of the cycle in which they are. For four out of 10 Spanish women, their libido is highest during ovulation, and about half rate their sexual desire as “medium.” Something logical and biological, taking into account that, when the woman ovulates, she has greater fertility to become pregnant.

Estrogens and Luteinizing Hormone make their revolution about 14 days after the first day of menstruation and therefore 14 days before the bleeding reappears, and that’s when the desire is at its peak.

This does not mean that women do not feel desire for the rest of the month, because, according to the aforementioned survey, beyond ovulation, almost half of Spanish women have a greater sexual desire during menstruation, although only 32% have sexual intercourse. .

But, in addition, it happens that sex during menstruation is highly recommended since, with stimulation, the body’s oxytocin levels increase, causing the pituitary gland to pump endorphins that cushion any pain that may be felt. . So if you have been thinking for some time about having sex during menstruation but the spotting slows you down, you can already count on Ziggy cup.
