The health authorities added 762 new hospitalizations in the last day and 59 new admissions to the ICU, figures lower than those of the previous days, with 826 hospitalizations and 88 admissions to the ICU on Thursday; and 815 and 129, on Wednesday.
As of this Friday night, the new measures that affect the ten cities of the Community of Madrid, including the capital, will come into force, despite the appeal that the regional government has presented before the National Court for disagreeing with the order of the Ministry of Health.
The director of Public Health and the Environment of the World Health Organization (WHO), María Neira, lamented the image that Spain has projected and that has been picked up in the international media after the disagreement between the central and regional Executive.
The new restrictions will take effect from 10 pm. These include the limitation of the exits and entrances of the ten affected municipalities, restrictions on the capacity and opening hours of establishments and the reduction of the maximum number of people in group activities, celebrations and ceremonies.
But not only the Community of Madrid applies new regulations to combat COVID-19. This same Friday, the Xunta de Galicia has announced that it prohibits the meetings of people who do not live together in the city of Ourense due to the “very worrying” situation of the spread of the virus in the municipality. This is an advance in the limitations of the town, where since Wednesday meetings of more than five people were not allowed.
