Health records a slight increase in coronavirus infections while hospitalizations drop

The symptoms of COVD have been changing with the new variants and now headaches, a runny nose or a hoarse voice are more frequent, but this does not mean that we should stop protecting ourselves. This Friday the Ministry of Health has registered 20,188 new cases of coronavirus, a figure higher than the 19,417 infections reported on Tuesday. The total number of people infected since the start of the pandemic thus amounts to 13,266,184.

By region, Madrid is the one that reports the most cases with 2,961 positives. It is followed by Catalonia (2,583 cases), the Valencian Community (2,495) and Andalusia (2,075).

As for the deceased, the portfolio led by Carolina Darias has reported an increase compared to the previous report, registering 310 deaths in the last seven days. 111,094 people have died with COVID in Spain.

Health has reported this Friday that there are 6,697 people hospitalized in Spain, fewer patients than the 7,836 registered on Tuesday. On the other hand, ICU admissions stand at 393, a figure lower than the 431 patients on August 2.

Another of the indicators that has dropped is the incidence in people over 60 years of age: it has gone from 475.95 per 100,000 inhabitants on Tuesday to 395.83 this Friday.

Regarding vaccination, a total of 39,135,358 people have the complete guideline, which is equivalent to 92.8% of the population over 12 years of age. People with booster doses add up to 25,794,632.
