How to Download HBO Max on Samsung TV | Digital Trends Spanish

HBO Max is a relatively new streaming app, and it won’t work on all Samsung TVs. If your TV is a few years old, you don’t have to worry about this part. But, if it was manufactured before 2018, things get a bit iffy.

If you have not done it yet, set up your Samsung TV and connect it to your Wi-Fi network, you will not be able to download anything until you have set this part up. A prompt to choose a wireless connection should appear during setup. Wired Ethernet is also an option.

With your TV connected and ready, use your paired remote and select the Smart Hub button (compatible TVs may have a Home button to choose from instead). If you have never used the smart features of your display, you will need to create or sign in with a Samsung account.

Write down your username and password for future use, and when you’re ready, choose the section apps from the bottom menu to continue. In some versions, applications may be in a top menu, with a section of several different windows grouped together.

The Apps section of your TV will have a list of Recommended or Editor’s Choice to start with, but there’s no guarantee HBO Max will be there. To locate it, you will have to use the search function.

Step 1: Navigate to the top section of the screen and select the magnifying glass icon.

Step 2: Now use the on-screen keyboard to type “HBO Max” and select Done. In the past, HBO offered alternative apps like HBO Go, but today it focuses on HBO Max, so it should be the only option to select.

If your version of Samsung smart TV platform does not have a search function, then go to Categories instead and look for streaming program apps

Step 1: select the option Install to download HBO Max. Go back to the apps section and click on HBO Max to launch the app.

Step 2Note: HBO Max will prompt you to sign in with your HBO Max account information, so be ready to proceed. If you haven’t set it up yet, we recommend heading to your phone or computer to sign up for HBO Max, as doing so on your TV can be a bit of a hassle.

HBO has a guide that shows you exactly what you need to do: there’s currently an ad-supported plan and an ad-free plan that you can choose from. Once you’ve added a payment option and completed the signup process, return to your Samsung TV and sign in to the HBO Max app.

Step 3: To make sure the HBO Max app stays up to date, it’s a good idea to go to Applicationsto choose Settings and activate the automatic update. Now the app will update itself every time a new version is available and you won’t have to worry about it.

Samsung doesn’t have built-in support for Chromecast, so it won’t be possible unless you have an external dongle. However, many TVs support AirPlay 2, which means you can download HBO Max on an Apple device and stream it to your TV using the option Share and then AirPlay on the playback screen.
