How to Reset a Ring Video Doorbell (1st Generation)

  • Remove the security screws and remove the video doorbell from the bracket.
  • Press the rear orange setup button for 10 seconds.
  • The light on the front of the video doorbell will flash for several minutes.
  • When it turns off, the reset is complete.

Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation)

  • Remove the security screws and remove the video doorbell from the bracket.
  • Press the orange setup button on the back of the device for 10 seconds.
  • When the reset is complete, the video doorbell will enter setup mode.

Ring Video Doorbell 2

  • Remove the security screw to remove the front panel.
  • Look for the settings button at the top right, just below the camera. In most cases, it will have an orange dot.
  • Hold down the setup button for 10 seconds.
  • The light on the front of the video doorbell will flash for several minutes.
  • When the light turns off, the reset is complete.

Ring Video Doorbell 3, 3 Plus and 4

  • Remove the security screw to remove the front panel.
  • Look for the settings button at the top right, just below the camera. On most models, it is identified by an orange dot.
  • Press the settings button for 10 seconds.
  • When the reset is complete, the video doorbell will enter setup mode.

Ring Video Doorbell Wired, Pro, Pro 2 and Elite

  • Remove the security screw to remove the front panel.
  • Look for the settings button on the right side of the video doorbell and it has an orange dot. On the Ring Video Doorbell Elite, it’s in the upper right corner, above the camera.
  • Press the settings button for 10 seconds.
  • When the reset is complete, the video doorbell will enter setup mode.

After resetting these models, you will need to remove the device from your Ring app if you will be selling or giving it away. If you don’t complete this step, the new owner won’t be able to set it up.

  • On the home screen, check the gear icon for your video doorbell .
  • Press Device configuration.
  • press General configuration.
  • Choose Delete this device.
