How to remove startup password in Windows 11 | Digital Trends Spanish

Your password is your entry into the world of Windows 11, as it protects your files and important information. However, there are some cases where you may want to remove startup password in Windows 11, and here we show you how you can do it.

It may interest you:

This could happen in situations where you share a computer with someone or you don’t have anything really “confidential” on your system. Although we do not recommend it, removing the password can also mean faster logins to your computer.

Some notes

Before we begin, there are a few important notes. If you’ve signed into your Windows 11 computer with a Microsoft account, you won’t be able to remove your sign-in password or PIN very easily.

This is for security reasons. You will always be forced to have some kind of password with a Microsoft account. You can only remove login passwords for accounts created locally or, as Microsoft puts it, with an “offline account.”

However, we suggest that you consider purchasing a computer with Windows Hello built in or setting it up after purchase if possible. These systems can use an infrared webcam to scan your face or your fingerprint to login. You can also buy an external Windows Hello webcam and fingerprint readers.

Technically, this removes your login password or PIN, as you will never have to type anything on the keyboard. It also helps keep your computer more secure, reducing the risk of someone guessing your password and accessing it.

How to remove startup password in Windows 11

If you set up your Windows 11 computer with a local account (offline), you can follow our steps below on how to remove the login password. Again, these steps do not work with a Microsoft account for security reasons.

Step 1: Go to the Start menu and search Setting.

Step 2– In the Settings app, choose Accounts in the sidebar.

Step 3: Under Ways to Sign In, scroll down to Password.

Step 4: click the button Change under the Password category.

Step 5– Enter your current password and click Next.

Step 6– Leave everything else blank and click Finalize.

Step 7: Close the Settings app. Your login password will now be removed.

Now that you have removed your password, you will no longer have to enter it at the Windows 11 login screen. You should log in automatically once your computer starts. Or, if you’re sharing, just click on your profile icon to log in.

Again, however, it is not safe to log into Windows 11 without a password. Others can access your files. If your account has administrator privileges, those with malicious intent can also use your account to access other people’s files.

We recommend using a strong password or Windows Hello. We have a guide that can help you choose a password manager that is also secure.
