How to uninstall McAfee on Windows 10 and Mac | Digital Trends Spanish

How to remove McAfee using Settings

Windows 10 overhauled much of the traditional app management systems in its ecosystem, making the process easier. Here’s how to get rid of McAfee products using Windows’ built-in tools.

Step 1: Open the menu Setting by clicking the Start button in the lower left corner and then the gear icon, or by searching for Settings using the Windows search box and clicking the relevant result.

Step 4: Select the McAfee product or application you want to uninstall and click the button Uninstall. When prompted, confirm your choice by clicking uninstall again.

Each version is a little different, but follow the removal instructions and you will automatically uninstall the McAfee product from your computer.

If the Windows application menu doesn’t do the job for you and there are still some items in a McAfee software on your system, you can use the MCPR.

Step 1: download the latest version of MCPR from the McAfee website.

Remove McAfee in Windows 11

If McAfee software came pre-installed on your Windows 11 computer, then removing it is just as easy as it is on Windows 10. Microsoft made a few settings tweaks to make the process much clearer.

Step 1: To start, press the Windows key and the I on your keyboard. From there, go to Applications in the sidebar on the left side. you should search Applications and features in the center of the screen and click that option.

Step 2: Scroll through the list and find any McAfee product. Click on the points facing downwards and choose uninstall. Next, follow the prompts on the screen and restart your computer.

How to uninstall McAfee on a Mac

For most MacOS software, uninstalling is as simple as finding the app in your Applications folder and dragging it to the trash can icon on your home screen. Mind you, McAfee’s software is a bit more complicated, and tends to be harder to remove than that. Fortunately, there is an effective method that you can try.

Step 1– Make sure you’re signed in with an administrator account if necessary. open your folder Applications and choose the folder Utilities. In this folder, open Terminal.

Step 2: In Terminal, you can create a command to uninstall the software. This command must be precise, so enter:

sudo/Library/McAfee/sma/scripts/uninstall.sh.

The command applies to McAfee version 4.8 or earlier. For McAfee 5.0 or later, enter:

sudo/Library/McAfee/cma/scripts/uninstall.sh.

When you have done this, press the key Enter.

Step 3: After you hit Enter, your Mac should have removed the McAfee files. When this process is done, restart your Mac to live your life without McAfee.

Sometimes even a Terminal command is not enough to completely remove McAfee, and you may see pop-ups or other leftovers after trying to get rid of the software.
