How to use WhatsApp Web on Windows and Mac | Digital Trends Spanish

To start WhatsApp WebSimply click on the Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari or Edge web page and scan the QR code with the WhatsApp mobile application from your cell phone. WhatsApp Web starts automatically in the browser and remains active until you log out of your computer or cell phone.

For iOS 14, these are the steps:

  • Go to the WhatsApp website to link WhatsApp Web with your cell phone application.
  • Start WhatsApp on your iPhone cell phone.
  • Scan the QR code that appears on the site with your cell phone open in WhatsApp.
  • On your iPhone, tap Settings> WhatsApp Web / Desktop.
  • Touch Scan QR code and hold your cell phone with the code to link it.

For Android 10, these are the steps:

  • On Android phones, touch the three dots in the upper right corner from the Chat panel.
  • Tap on WhatsApp Web and scan the QR code.
  • Your cell phone account is now linked to the web version of the application.
  • Now you can send and receive messages from your computer’s desktop browser.

After scanning the QR code, you can see your WhatsApp chat list on the web page. On the left, you access the chats by clicking on a contact and the message history, if you saved it.

At the top left of the web page, there are three icons available: Status, New chat and Menu, which offer a list of nested options.

Clicking New chat, the contact list opens on the left side of the page. From here, you can create or start a conversation with your saved contacts.

Sending messages

WhatsApp Web is as easy to use as the mobile application, and the interface will be familiar to you. To send a message from the desktop, click on an existing chat or the icon New chat and select the contact you want to interact with.

In this option, you have access to the previous chats, if they are saved, or you can also see the message bar at the bottom. Click on the bar Write a message here and start chatting.

When you have finished the message, press the Enter key on your keyboard to send it or simply click on the icon Send.

If you want to include documents, images or recordings, attach the files from your desktop and send them as you would any other message by clicking To attach, is the paper clip icon at the top of the chat.

Install WhatsApp on your computer

WhatsApp offers the option of a desktop application for Windows or Mac that you can download directly from the WhatsApp site. It looks identical to the web application.

After downloading in Windows, follow the steps of the installer. On a Mac, drag the WhatsApp icon to your Applications folder. Launch the desktop app.

As with the web browser version, you will receive a message to scan a QR code similar to the web version. WhatsApp keeps you connected until you decide to log out.

To log out, go back to the WhatsApp menu on your cell phone and choose Sign off on all devices, or on your computer by tapping the three-dot icon at the top of the conversation and choosing the option Sign off.

Video calls on your computer coming soon

WhatsApp is planning to implement multiple video calls on your computer in its web application for up to 50 participants. This would offer an alternative to Zoom, Skype, and Google Meet, which promises to be extremely convenient for WhatsApp users. The feature is in beta and has not yet been released to the public. Group video chats are now available on the mobile versions of the app.
