The rumors were right: Huawei wanted to end 2021 by launching a new folding phone. It’s about the new Huawei P50 Pocket, a device that has been presented in China and whose design differs greatly from the manufacturer’s previous flexible cell phones, the Huawei Mate X.
The Huawei P50 Pocket has a shell design like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3. However, unlike this, the secondary screen that shows notifications and some settings is not elongated but round. The main screen (once opened) is a 6.9-inch AMOLED with Full HD + resolution, 21: 9 aspect ratio and 120 Hz refresh rate.
The power is handled by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor along with 8 GB or 12 GB of RA and 256 GB or 512 GB of internal storage. We did not find 5G connectivity due to the veto that the company has been subjected to since 2019.
Its battery is quite powerful, with an amperage of 4,000 mAh (in comparison, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 has a 3,300 mAh) and its fast charging system is 40W. The operating system is HarmonyOS developed by Huawei and does not offer Google services.
In the photographic section, the phone incorporates a triple camera formed by a 40 MP sensor, a 13 MP ultra-wide angle and a third 32 MP lens. The new Huawei P50 Pocket will go on sale in three colors for 8,988 (about $ 1,400 dollars to change) in China. At the moment it is unknown when it will reach other territories such as Europe or Latin America.
