The Ciudadanos candidate for the Presidency of the Junta de Castilla y León and former regional vice president, Francisco Igea, assured this Saturday in his central act that he smells “miles away” of the fear felt by “the irresponsible” who have called the elections in Castilla and Leon. Igea has recalled the recovery of the remains of some thirty victims of the civil war in a well in Medina del Campo (Valladolid), when he was a councilor and had powers over historical memory.
“They were put on their knees, they shot themselves and they were thrown into the well. They took out a 15 or 16-year-old boy still hugging his father’s body. We do not believe in that shit about Spain against each other, in Spain of fascism and anti-fascism, of communism and anti-communism. We believe in the Spain of the embrace”, Igea pointed out.
The central act has been convened in the Millennium Dome of Valladolid this Saturday, where it has been necessary to place more chairs so that all those interested could enter. Accompanied by ‘Here Comes the Sun’ by The Beatles -just as he did in 2019- Igea has recalled the work he and the former Minister of Health, Verónica Casado, did during the first wave of the pandemic while there were “those who were paralyzed, hidden, waiting to see what the others would do”, an implicit reference to the regional president and PP candidate, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco.
The former vice president has considered that these elections – marked by “dishonesty, lies, defamation and interest” – also represent an opportunity to “show that it is possible to claim the space of moderation, freedom and the evaluation of public policies”. Igea has valued his work by publishing institutional advertising data in the media, his work in Health, Employment and Culture, the portfolios that Ciudadanos held in the coalition government of Castilla y León. He has also pointed out that Ciudadanos had the only representative (Igea, which was responsible for Foreign Action) in the Committee of the Regions. “Mañueco told me: well, but if the King goes to something in Europe, can I go take a picture with him? Of course, of course,” he recalled.
The former Minister of Health, Verónica Casado, and the president of Ciudadanos, Inés Arrimadas, have also participated in the Ciudadanos act, who has demanded “punish lies and impudence” on February 13 at the polls and reward “the truth , honesty, good management and a candidate who was honest to the end.”
“Proud” to support labor reform
Arrimadas has shown “a special pride” for having supported the labor reform approved this Thursday in the Congress of Deputies, the least “sanchista and podemita that this government could bring out.”
Arrimadas has defended that it is a “sensible agreement” that has “nothing to do” with the “swearwords that we heard and with what one could imagine” with the Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz. The president of Ciudadanos has denounced the “embarrassment” experienced in the plenary session of Congress while her party was “reasonable in the face of sectarianism” and “serious in the face of scoundrels and lack of words.”
The president of Ciudadanos has asked the affiliates to go vote and campaign this week before the elections and has demanded that they not “take away the desire to continue fighting for Spain or Castilla y León”.
Casado criticizes Vázquez’s “professional bribes” to the toilets
The former Minister of Health, who closes the Ciudadanos candidacy, has charged against the strategy of the new minister of the branch, Alejandro Vázquez, with “nonsense”, “artifice” and “professional bribes” that end shortly after the elections. “What a coincidence”, Casado has ironized, who has criticized the screenings subcontracted to three companies for six million euros. Casado has confessed that his team had “the checkbook closed” for projects that they would not let him do and he ironized that, however, “now, before the elections, curiously, the checkbook opens.”
Casado has also criticized the meeting that Vázquez had in December with a senior official from Ambuibérica – a company that manages health transport – which a few days later was one of the beneficiary companies of outsourced screening. On December 9, 2021 -before Mañueco called elections-, the Governing Council authorized an expenditure of 808 million euros to contract the land medical transport service until 2028. “You go to know what they are going to do with those 800 million euros,” Casado has insinuated, who has defended his work in the last two years.
