An individual Ether (ETH) miner made a big splash by mining a block on his own and receiving a reward worth about $540,000.
The miner was operating through the “2miners SOLO” pool on January 17 when he mined a full block and received 168 ETH. This reward far exceeds the average block reward of about 4 ETH, according to BitInfoCharts.
- Total USDC supply exceeds that of on the Ethereum network
The size and hashing power of the SOLO pool contribute to the extraordinary nature of the reward. It is relatively small, with 854 miners online and 1.5 Tera hashes per second at the time of writing, which means the average miner contributes 1.85 Giga hashes per second. The lucky miner currently contributes 2.25 Giga hashes per second, which could be generated by between 1 and 20 of the latest GPU devices.
