The start of Instagram is likely to look more and more like the explore tab. According to The Verge, the social network is testing to show “suggested posts” of accounts that the user does not follow among their friends’ posts.
This would respond to the success of the suggested posts at the end of the feed, which showed recommended photos and videos that appeared when the person finished viewing the content shared by their friends.
According to Instagram, this new feature has been “so well received”, that it is likely that the posts suggested from now on can appear anywhere in the feed, even before the photos and videos of the friends that the user follows.
The platform is also testing a new tool that allows adding specific interests to suggested posts, as well as the option to hide certain topics or postpone all recommendations for a period of 30 days.
For now, the suggested new posts and the tool that allows you to manage interests are only available to a small number of users, but this could change in the coming weeks.
According to the same article, this would be an Instagram bet for the user to spend more time in the application, even if that means pushing the photos and videos of their friends all the way down in the feed.
The good news is that the social network gives the person some control over the topics and interests that they can see in the publications.
