Instagram announced the arrival of subscriptions to the social network, a function that will allow a user to pay a monthly fee to receive exclusive content from a content creator, who, in turn, will be able to access a recurring and predictable source of income on a monthly basis. .

“With Instagram subscriptions, creators can strengthen the connection with their most frequent followers and grow their monthly recurring income, giving their subscribers exclusive access to content and benefits, all within the platform in which they already interact”, highlighted the Instagram. social network.
Broadly speaking, Instagram subscriptions will work like online patronage platforms like Patreon or OnlyFans.
Instagram noted that starting January 19, 2022, a select group of content creators in the United States will be able to enable the “Subscribe” button on their profiles. By doing so, the followers of the creator in question will be able to have exclusive access to live broadcasts (lives) and stories, while the creators will be able to distinguish their subscribers through a medal.
The first content creators to enable subscriptions on Instagram are @alanchikinchow, @sedona._, @alizakelly, @kelseylynncook, @elliottnorris, @jordanchiles, @jackjerry, @bunnymichael, @donalleniii Y @lonnieiiv.
In the coming months, content creators from other countries will be able to enable subscriptions. Instagram estimated that the feature will reach more creators “in the coming months.”
Instagram specified that, as with the subscriptions it enabled in November 2021 on Facebook, it will not charge a percentage of subscriptions to creators who enable the function until 2023.
