Intel launches its first next-generation processors | Digital Trends Spanish

After the first commercial processor leaked, Intel finally kicked off its twelfth generation Alder Lake chips with three models including the Core i9, Core i7 and Core i5.

The first is the Core i9-12900K that appeared a few days ago in stores. This processor has 16 cores and 24 threads; the cores are divided into eight for power and eight for efficiency. The Core i9-12900K may arrive with overclock at 5.2Ghz, which Intel says is a 19 percent increase over the previous-gen Core i9.

The next processor on the list is the Core i7-12700K which has 12 cores (eight for power and four for efficiency at 3.6 and 2.7 Ghz respectively), 20 threads and which can reach 5.0 Ghz thanks to Intel’s Turbo Boost Max technology. .

And finally, there is the Core i5-12500K, which has only 10 cores (six of power at 3.7 Ghz and four of efficiency at 3.8 Ghz) and when doing overclock reaches 4.9 Ghz. Mind you, the Core i5 does not have support for Turbo Boost Max.

All the chips, from the Core i9 to the Core i5, come in two versions: one with integrated graphics and another that will need a video card. The Core i9 comes with Intel UHD Graphics 770, while the Core i7 and Core i5 have the UHD Graphics 750 version.

Intel’s Alder Lake processors will only be compatible with Intel’s Z690 chipset, which among other new features includes support for USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 and Wi-Fi 6E. The new chipset means that those who want to jump into the next generation will have to go for a new motherboard as well.

The Core i9 will have a suggested retail price of $ 589 ($ 564 for the version without an integrated video chip), while the Core i7 starts at $ 409 ($ 384 without video) and the Core i5 at $ 289 ($ 264 without integrated video).

All models will be in pre-sale from today and its launch is scheduled for November 4.
