Japan will take ‘appropriate steps’ on FX with US currency authority, chief govt spokesperson says

TOKYO — Japan will take “appropriate steps” on its currency exchange policy, its chief government spokesperson said in a Tuesday at a news conference following the top Japanese currency diplomat’s meeting with a US Treasury Department official.

“The government will take appropriate steps in close communication with currency authorities in the United States and others, based on agreements in the Group of Seven,” Japan’s chief cabinet secretary Hirokazu Matsuno said. (Reporting by Kantaro Komiya; Editing by Alex Richardson)
