A popular jury has found Jorge Ignacio Palma guilty of the deaths of Marta Calvo, Arliene Ramos and Lady Marcela Vargas and of the sexual abuse suffered by seven other young women, all of them prostitutes, by inserting cocaine into their genitals without their consent.
Also seven of them for having tried to kill them, but not having succeeded for reasons beyond their control, and, in all cases, the popular jury considers him guilty for promoting the use of cocaine.
This follows from the verdict of the jury – made up of seven women and two men – made public this Friday after having deliberated since last Monday.
The verdict has been announced after more than a month in which Jorge Ignacio, who has always maintained his innocence, has been tried in the Court of Valencia.
The jury, after studying all the evidence in the case and listening to the defendant, victims and witnesses, has returned a guilty verdict. Now it will be the court that determines the sentence that should be imposed on the accused.
