The lawyer of the emeritus king, Javier Sánchez-Junco, announced this Wednesday that he will assess “next week” the decision of the Supreme Court Prosecutor’s Office to file the investigations into Juan Carlos I, while “also echoing the decisions that I can take.”
Through a statement, collected by Europa Press, the monarch’s representation has explained that he must study the decrees by which the prosecutor Alejandro Luzón has decreed this Wednesday the file of the investigative proceedings that were kept open on the fortune of the emeritus.
“The aforementioned decrees, without prejudice to the detailed study they require, conclude that in none of the cases that motivated their initiation, there are circumstances that allow us to appreciate the existence of any illicit attributable to Juan Carlos de Borbón y Borbón or conduct that is susceptible to reproach criminal”, notes the lawyer. Thus, and “in compliance with what was agreed in the file decrees”, the lawyer will transfer “personally in the next few days” to the emeritus “the content” of the same.
The Public Ministry has argued that the alleged crimes have prescribed, as well as that the acts were committed while the former head of state enjoyed inviolability.
