Junts wields the UN resolution so that the Parliament reconsiders removing Borràs from the presidency

Junts has presented this Thursday, in the first session of the Parliamentary Table after the holiday break, a new request for reconsideration of Laura Borràs. This time, they have included the UN resolution, which considers that Spain violated the rights of the independence leaders Oriol Junqueras, Raül Romeva and Jordi Turull by leaving them without a seat before being tried on 1-O.

This resolution is, according to the party, a new argument to ask the Board to reconsider the decision to remove Borràs from the presidency of the Parliament due to the case of the Institució de les Lletres Catalanes for which he is awaiting trial.

Even so, if there are no last-minute changes, it is expected that the Table, after listening to the spokespersons’ meeting, will ratify the suspension of Borràs and will not admit Junts’ proposal for processing. In fact, according to the majority of the Table (ERC, PSC and CUP), the direct application of article 25.4 of the Parliament’s regulations (which decrees the suspension of parliamentary rights and duties when oral proceedings are opened) cannot be subject to reconsideration.
