Keeping Zuckerberg safe costs $27 million | Digital Trends Spanish

It is not easy to be the CEO of one of the most important companies in the world, nor is it very safe. This is something that Mark Zuckerberg and his family are very clear about, since they are constantly receiving threats of all kinds.

For this reason, the Meta company takes the safety of the CEO and his closest environment very seriously, although this can reach a very high economic cost. According to a filing the company made to the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, nearly $27 million was spent last year for Mark Zuckerberg and his family to have private security.

According to the filing, $15 million was earmarked for “personal security for Mr. Zuckerberg at his residences,” in addition to his personal travel, while another $10 million was for his wife Priscilla Chan’s security expenses. and their children. The other two million were earmarked for the CEO’s private plane expenses.

From Meta they assured that spending this amount of money was necessary, since Zuckerberg and his family constantly received threats. They also pointed out that this level of security is up to someone who holds his rank.

“We believe that the role of Mr. Zuckerberg puts him in a unique position: he is synonymous with Meta, and as a result, negative sentiment regarding our company is directly associated with and often transferred to him,” the company explains.
