Kobe Bryant was going to record in Saved by the Bell before he died | Digital Trends Spanish

A few days before he died, the basketball legend Kobe Bryantwas going to record some scenes for the reboot of the nineties series Saved by the Bell.

This was at least confirmed by two actors from that television show Josie Totah and Alycia Pascual-Peña, who played Bayside High students Lexi and Aisha.

“A wild fact that I don’t think a lot of people know, or it’s not important at all because obviously we’re the least important when it comes to this legend and the passing of his daughter, but we were actually supposed to film with Kobe two days after his death,” shares Totah, calling Bryant’s addition “so surreal.”

Pascual-Peña noted that the energy on set “changed a lot” when it came time to shoot said pilot, and reflects on the sports giant’s legacy.

“I remember finding out that it had gone through one of our best friends, Anjelika Washington,” says Pascual-Peña. “She called me specifically because she knew I had been talking about it for a month with her, that she was so excited to meet Kobe on set and I can’t believe she was a fan of the first Saved by the Bell and that he was excited to be on the show.”

“It’s really beautiful and eye-opening to see how one person can… bring joy to so many people. Some people live their entire lives without seeing the full impact they had on the world until they pass away », he continues. “Fortunately Kobe received the flowers from her. That man was so loved and so respected.”
