The President of the Government of Aragon, Javier Lambán, has charged against the former basketball player Pau Gasol for some statements he has made about the decision of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) not to present the candidacy to host the Olympic Games (JJOO) of Winter 2030 due to the lack of consensus between Aragon and Catalonia.
Gasol has opined this Wednesday that the decision of the COE seems “right” because “the candidacy has tried to politicize, especially from the part of Aragon.” “Catalonia has had exemplary behavior and of which I am proud”, added the former player.
From his Twitter account, Lambán has criticized Gasol for “holding him responsible” for the failure of the 2030 Olympics. “With the respect that this athlete deserves, he should be better informed and not assume that the COE obeys sporting criteria. In this case he has been an ally of the independence movement, ”the politician has tweeted.
The Catalan @Pau Gasol has blamed me for the failure of the #games2030. With all due respect to this athlete, he should be better informed and not assume that the @COE_en obeys strict sporting criteria. In this case, it has been an ally of independence

After several comments to his first publication, Lambán has published another tweet indicating that he does not mind being called “Aragonese Lambán”. “It makes me proud,” he has said. He also wanted to clarify that when he spoke of “an ally of independence” he was referring to the Spanish Olympic Committee and not to Gasol.
Some comments on this tweet surprise me. To clear things up:
1. It doesn’t bother me that they call me the “Aragonese Lambán”. It makes me proud.
2. When speaking that “in this case it has been an ally of the independence movement”, I refer to the @COE_ennot @Pau Gasol
