The Malacateco champion, of the Mexican technical director Roberto Hernández, tied 3-3 with Nueva Concepción and is second in the Clausura-2022 tournament in Guatemala after the dispute on the second day.
Malacateco, who started the tournament with victory last week, could not get his second win in a row on Sunday afternoon and lost the opportunity to add three visiting points that ensured him jump to the lead alone.
For its part, the capital’s Municipal, one of the two teams with the most fans in the country and led by former Paraguayan international José Saturnino Cardozo, tied without goals on Saturday against Guastatoya.
Guastatoya is the leader with four points, the same as Malacateco, Municipal, Cobán and Antigua but with a better goal difference.
Meanwhile, Comunicaciones, the other most popular team in Guatemala, lost 2-0 in its visit to Cobán on Saturday and fell to sixth place in the qualifying phase, which will distribute eight tickets to the quarterfinals.
