Marvel’s Armor Wars series will now be a movie | Digital Trends Spanish

In 2020, Armor Wars was one of the big announcements during Disney Investor Day that set the stage for Marvel’s continued expansion into Disney+. But plans have changed, and the long-awaited series Armor Wars it no longer advances. A via The Hollywood Reporter, Armor Wars it is now being redeveloped as a film.

Don Cheadle is still attached to headline the film as James “Rhodey” Rhodes / War Machine, a role he has played since Iron Man 2 in 2010. Additionally, Yassir Lester, the series’ lead writer Armor Warswill adapt the project for the big screen. Armor Wars It doesn’t have a director at this time, and the change in development will take it out of its previously planned 2023 production slot. Other than Cheadle, no other cast members have been announced.

Armor Wars is based on the story of Hombre de Hierro 1987 written by David Michelinie and Bob Layton, which was illustrated by Mark Bright. In that multi-part adventure, Tony Stark discovered that his proprietary Iron Man technology had been stolen and sold to many of the Marvel Universe’s armored villains. Outraged, Stark went on a vendetta to reclaim and neutralize the technology stolen from him, even as he alienated his fellow Avengers and made him an enemy of the United States government.

Ever since Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark/Iron Man was killed in Avengers: Endgame, it is up to Rhodey to carry on and uphold his fallen friend’s legacy. The only record line that Marvel released for Armor Wars was that it explores Tony Stark’s worst nightmare as his technology falls into the wrong hands.

Wear Armor Wars to the big screen essentially makes it the fourth film of Hombre de Hierro with Cheadle in the title role. In the Marvel comics universe, Rhodey was the second Iron Man before assuming the mantle of War Machine as his own. So if Marvel officially decides to make Rhodey the new Iron Man, there’s a precedent for that.

For now, Armor Wars It does not have a theatrical release date. But given that Marvel has released most of its theatrical plans through the first half of 2026, it’s likely to come out somewhere in that time frame.
