A Phoenix couple married their digital identities this weekend in the first marriage to take place in the Metaverse.
The wedding ceremony took place at Decentraland, with witnesses, Supreme Court officiant Clint Bolick, and a virtual crowd of 2,000 guests on February 5.
The couple, Ryan and Candice Hurley, hired the Rose Law Group to legally formalize the marriage. The group’s founder and president, Jordan Rose, claims that it was the first wedding held in a blockchain-based metaverse.
