The Colon free zone (ZLC), one of the pillars of the logistics sector in Panama, is recovering positively from the negative impact of the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) and proof of this is that during this year more than 200 companies they have started operations in that free zone.
“Today the ZLC is evolving positively, the figures indicate this. Traffic gives us that feeling that things are improving, we are on par with the 2019 figures, “he reported. Giovanni Ferrari, general manager of the entity, who stressed that in his administration they are trying to bring in companies that not only maintain inventories, but also give added values, said the official.
Ferrari stressed that so far in 2021 just over 200 companies have joined the ZLC and that this commercial sector of the province of Colon continues to target shopping tourism, being one of the pillar strategies for its economic movement.
The general manager of the ZLC He highlighted that the commercial movement in that free zone increases for the month of December and that the products with the highest incidence are electronic products and clothing, which registered increases in 2020 of 1.12% and 10.8% in imports respectively, so it is hoped that this year will not be the exception.
