More than 45 million people in Germany are boosted

BERLIN (dpa-AFX) – Vaccination of the population in Germany against the corona virus is progressing slowly. According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) on Monday (as of 9:31 a.m.), 45,000 vaccine doses were administered on Sunday. This means that 61.9 million people or 74.4 percent of the population now have basic protection, which usually requires two injections. At least 45.2 million people (54.3 percent) now also have a booster vaccination.

However, a large group of 20 million people remain unvaccinated. That corresponds to 24 percent of the population. However, no vaccine has been approved for four million of them (4.8 percent) because they are four years old or younger. 63.2 million people, or 76.0 percent of the population, have received at least one vaccine dose. On average, almost 3 people were vaccinated every second over the past 7 days.

There are big differences between the federal states when it comes to booster vaccinations. At the top is Schleswig-Holstein, where 62.4 percent of people have already received a booster. Saxony brings up the rear with 43.9 percent.

The RKI has long pointed out that the figures shown are to be understood as minimum vaccination rates. A hundred percent coverage by the reporting system cannot be achieved. The RKI assumes that the actual vaccination rate is up to five percentage points higher than indicated on the dashboard./hn/DP/eas
