The event, organized by the GSM Association (GSMA), starts on February 28 and ends on March 3, 2022, and takes place at the Fira Internacional de Barcelona, one of the main event centers in the Spanish city.

In January 2022, when infections by the omicron variant were growing in Europe, Sony Mobile was the first company to announce that it would be absent from MWC 2022. However, it will be present virtually.
