The Mobile World Congress (MWC) took a second wind. This is everything we expect from MWC 2022 from Barcelona.

The MWC was one of the first technological events affected by COVID-19. In February 2020, it was canceled at the last minute, while the wave of infections grew rapidly in Europe. And in June 2021, a washed-out version was carried out.

The experience of CES 2022, with numerous casualties of the latest COVID-19 product, led to speculation that MWC 2022 would suffer the same fate as previous editions. However, the restrictions have been relaxed and everything indicates that it will be an event with many new features.

The MWC 2022 will take place between February 28 and March 3 at the Fira Internacional de Barcelona. It will have the participation of 2,000 exhibitors from 155 countries, including cell phone manufacturers, telephone operators, mobile service companies and other companies linked to the world of mobile technology.

How to follow the event

Considering the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was designed in a hybrid format, with face-to-face and online conferences. Although for most you must register, there are some that are free. In addition, you can follow most of the launches online, through the accounts of each company.

While many companies have made major launches in the weeks leading up to it, some like Samsung have reserved some surprises for MWC 2022, while others will keep the tradition of revealing their new products.

huawei

Huawei released in January 2022 the P50 and P50 Pocket series, so there are unlikely to be any phone announcements. However, there will be news for the “smart office”, so the rumors point to computers and tablets. Even a surprise in terms of smartphones is not ruled out.

Honor will debut at MWC 2022 as an independent brand after its separation from Huawei, which also allowed it to access Google services again. OnePlus released the OnePlus 10 and OnePlus 10 Pro phones for China in early 2022, but announced what was new for “later” in the US and Europe. While it’s unlikely you’ll pick the event to release them, at least they’ll be available in the event.

Oppo

The Oppo Find X5 Pro and the Oppo Find X5 will make their debut in society at MWC 2022, although they have already been officially presented in China. The Find X5 Pro represents an improvement on the Oppo Find X3 Pro, with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, although it will not have the microscopic camera.

Realme

With the newly released mid-range Realme 9 Pro, the Chinese company also reserved news for MWC 2022: the global premiere of Realme GT 2, its new flagship. The standard and Pro version of these phones debuted in China in January 2022, so the event will reveal details about their availability in other markets and how effective the world’s fastest fast charge is.

Conference: February 28 (5:00 a.m. ET / 2:00 a.m. PT) on Realme

Samsung

Although the Korean manufacturer revealed its Galaxy S22 series phones and Tab S8 tablets in early February 2022, the company announced that it would arrive with news in Barcelona. And everything indicates that this is a new generation of its Galaxy Book laptops.

Xiaomi / Little

Another one that had a launch before MWC 2022 was Xiaomi. Its new flagship, the Xiaomi 12, premiered in China in December 2021, so Barcelona would be the ideal place to launch it to the rest of the world. However, the one that will bring news will be its subsidiary Poco, which will present the Poco x4 Pro 5G and the Poco M4 Pro. Redmi has not announced any advances.
