Naturgy will allow all its gas customers to automatically switch to the regulated rate

Naturgy has announced this Thursday that it is going to provide its customers with the entire process so that households with a gas consumption of less than 50,000 kWh/year can qualify “quickly” and “through one click” at the last resort (TUR), which is subsidized by the government and is much cheaper than the free market.

The Spanish gas leader has made a form available to its liberalized market customers on its website, “through which they can switch to the regulated rate automatically without having to do any additional management.”

The company indicates that in the second part of the year it has managed close to 150,000 transfers to the TUR, more than in the previous two and a half years, “and is consolidated as the company with the most clients with this rate”, to which it indicates there are about 1.7 million customers.

With this form, customers will be able to fill in the data required to confirm their identity, ownership of the supply and acceptance of the transfer of personal data to the regulated retailer, which will assume the supply after the change. “In this way, the client will not have to carry out any additional management to be part of the regulated market.”

Naturgy will also contact its customers in the liberalized market through different means (email, SMS and postal mail) to offer them this quick and automatic change to the TUR through a direct link to the form. This initiative is initially aimed at customers located in the 9 autonomous communities in which the energy group has gas distribution: Andalusia, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León, Catalonia, the Valencian Community, Galicia, Madrid, Navarra and La Rioja. These are 90% of the group’s customers in the gas business in Spain.

Thus, customers will no longer be customers of Naturgy Iberia, SA (deregulated market reseller) and will become customers of Comercializadora Regulada Gas&Power, SA (regulated reseller of the Naturgy Group). The company has made the information and the form available at www.naturgy.es/turaunclic.

“In this way and through a click, Naturgy intends to accelerate the mobilization of customers to the regulated market with the aim that they pay less on their gas bill before winter arrives, the period in which the greatest consumption of gas of the year.

The company underlines that this measure “adds to the reinforcement of the different customer service channels in recent weeks with the aim of meeting the sharp increase in requests for contracting the TUR of gas in homes. Among other measures, Naturgy has multiplied to date by x14 the number of operators assigned to attend requests for registration in the gas TUR”.

In October, the Government extended the TUR to neighborhood communities and assumed the cost of the cap on increases in force since the end of last year for customers using this modality, which led to a flood of requests and led the National Commission for Markets and Competition (CNMC) to open an information file.
