NCAA withdraws approval of Emirates Airlines Winter schedule

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has withdrawn the ministerial approval granted to Emirate Airlines Winter Schedule.

This was confirmed from a letter which was seen by Nairametrics, issued by the apex regulator to the management of the airline in Nigeria on Thursday.

According to the letter, which was signed by the Director-General, NCAA, Captain Musa Nuhu, the approval of the airline has been limited to operate only one weekly passenger frequency to Abuja on Thursdays.

What NCAA is saying about the withdrawal

The letter stated, “I wish to inform you of the withdrawal of the approval granted to Emirates Airlines Winter Schedule. This approval was conveyed via a letter with reference number FMA/ATMD/501/C.104/XV/536 dated December 1, 2021.

“This withdrawal becomes effective on Sunday, December 12th, 2021 at 2300Z. Please kindly note, henceforth, Emirates Airlines is granted approval to operate only one weekly passenger frequency to Abuja on Thursdays.”

The development was also confirmed by the spokesperson of NCAA, Sam Adurogboye.

In case you missed it

In November, Nairametrics had reported that the Nigerian Government announced it has lifted restrictions imposed on Emirates airline flights after negotiations were concluded with the airline.

The restrictions were imposed by the FG in March after the airline demanded extra covid-19 testing requirements for Nigerian passengers.

Aviation Minister, Hadi Sirika said, “Today we received communications from Emirates removing some of the conditions for travelling for which we had concerns.”

“Having done that it is necessary to lift the ban on Emirates. This subsequent lifting of ban is a product of lengthy negotiations between us and them.”
