Netflix buys Scanline VFX, creator of special effects for ‘Cowboy Bebop’ and several Marvel movies

The audiovisual giant Netflix has reached an agreement with the German company Scanline VFX, in charge of producing the special effects of a multitude of Hollywood films, as announced in a statement this Monday in which the financial terms of the operation have not been disclosed.

Scanline VFX was founded in 1989 in Germany and has studios in Munich, Stuttgart, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Montreal, Seoul and London.

The company has two Emmy Awards for the special effects of seasons four and eight of ‘Game of Thrones’. In addition to having worked on the special effects for Netflix’s live-action adaptation of ‘Cowboy Bebop’, he has also worked on a multitude of Marvel films, including recent ones. ‘Eternals‘ and ‘Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings’.

Currently, the firm is working on the special effects of the fourth season of ‘Stranger Things‘and in four films from the DC comics house:’The Batman‘, ‘Aquaman and the lost kingdom‘, ‘The Flash‘ and ‘Black Adam‘.

The vice president of Netflix a Study Operations Manager Amy Reinhard stressed that the company will invest in the Scanline VFX staff and infrastructure. The German firm will continue to operate independently and work for clients other than Netflix.
