Netflix raises the price of its subscription plans in the United States | Digital Trends Spanish


Netflix announced increases in the prices of its subscription plans in the United States and Canada, where the rates will increase between $1 and $2 dollars. Netflix had not updated its prices in the United States since the end of 2020.

Starting in the next few weeks, subscribers who currently have a Netflix plan will have to pay $15.49 per month for the standard plan, which allows streaming content on two screens at the same time. The previous price was $13.99.

For the Premium plan, the 2022 price will be $19.99 per month, an increase of $2 from the previous price of $17.99.

Meanwhile, the individual plan will have an increase of $1 dollar, to go from $8.99 dollars to $9.99 dollars per month.

“We are updating our prices so that we can continue to offer a wide range of entertainment options”, a Netflix spokesperson said in a statement.

“As usual, we will continue to offer different pricing options so that our subscribers can choose the one that best suits their budget,” he added.

After publishing the prices that Netflix will have in the United States in 2022, the company’s shares rose 3 percent to reach a price of $533.84 dollars per share. At the close of trading, the shares closed at $525.69, 1.3 percent above the opening price.

Subscription plan prices were also increased in Canada.

The Standard plan, for two screens, went from $14.99 Canadian dollars to $16.49 Canadian dollars.

Meanwhile, the Premium plan went from $18.99 Canadian dollars to $20.99 Canadian dollars.

The basic plan remained unchanged at a price of $9.99 Canadian dollars.
