In recent times, Netflix has bet heavily on children’s animation, especially through its original productions.
One of his most recent projects is Maya and the three, a digital production that has been written, produced and directed by Jorge R. Gutiérrez.
This work presents a story that is inspired by a blend of the mythologies of the three best-known American Indian cultures: the Aztecs, the Mayans, and the Incas.
The official synopsis of the series presents this work as an “epic journey to save a fantastic world.”
“Three outcasts from three distant lands, Chimi (the White Monster), Rico (the Magus Rooster) and Picchu (the Brave Puma Warrior) will join Maya (the Warrior Eagle) on her mission to stop the god Mictlán (the god of war) and make an ancient prophecy come true. “
This animated series will arrive on October 22 on Netflix and will have nine chapters. The streaming company has also taken the opportunity to show the first trailer and the official poster of the production.
“As a lifelong lover of fantasy films from around the world and deeply inspired by the glorious Mesoamerican art and exhibits at the National Museum of Anthropology in my native Mexico City, I created Maya as our own fiercely rebellious eagle warrior princess. ”, Explains Jorge Gutiérrez.
“Our young heroine is lovingly inspired by the true Mexican warrior women in my life: my mother, my sister, and my eternal muse, my wife.”
The writing team, led by Gutiérrez, is made up of Silvia Olivas, Doug Langdale and Candie Kelty Langdale. Meanwhile, Gustavo Santaolalla and Tim Davies are the creators of the music.
