The National Weather Service (NWS) of the United States issued a flash flood alert in New York, after the city was severely affected by the passage of tropical storm Ida.

“A flash flood emergency has been issued for the New York City metropolitan area. This is an especially dangerous situation. Look for higher ground now! ”Said the NWS on its Twitter account.

It was the inhabitants of the city themselves who gave account of the seriousness of the bad weather front, sharing videos and images of the passage of the storm.

Historical event

Bill de Blasio, Mayor of New York, recognized the seriousness of the climatic phenomenon and affirmed that they were facing an event of a historical nature.

“We are enduring a historic meteorological event tonight with record rains throughout the city, brutal flooding and dangerous conditions on our roads,” said the authority on its Twitter account.

The Meteorological Service invited residents to stay away from the road, as several cases of trapped motorists were reported overnight on Wednesday, prompting emergency crews to act quickly at various points in the city.
