Nine injured, three of them seriously, in a fire at a hotel in Barcelona


Nine people have been injured, two of them seriously and one in critical condition, in a fire that broke out this afternoon at the Coronado hotel in Barcelona, ​​located at number 134 Nou de la Rambla street in the Poblesec neighborhood .

The Firefighters of the Generalitat have evacuated the hotel and have worked on the extinction throughout the morning with a dozen crews. According to the first indications, the flames have originated on the third floor of the building. At the moment, the causes of the fire are unknown and a police investigation has been opened.

Several crews from the Mossos and the Emergency Medical Service (SEM) have traveled to the scene, as well as from the Guàrdia Urbana and the Barcelona Fire Department. The fire has been extinguished at half past two.

According to SEM sources cited by The vanguardOf the nine injured, four have already been discharged. The remaining five remain admitted to the Hospital Clínic (one critical), Vall d’Hebron (two more serious) and Hospital del Mar (two less serious). The two injured in the worst condition, according to this newspaper, are two people who have jumped out of the third-floor window of the hotel.
