This Tuesday several Spanish cities have also woken up with reddish skies, as happened this Monday on the Mediterranean coast, and with cars parked in the streets full of dust. African air with suspended dust has reached the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, giving rise to the atmospheric phenomenon known as haze. As explained by the AEMET, it is warm air and this morning it has exceeded 20ºC in the peninsular southeast and 18ºC in points of the eastern Cantabrian Sea. In the Canary Islands, on the other hand, cold winds arrive from the north.
Saharan dust began to penetrate on Monday. As it spreads, it reduces visibility and in areas where precipitation occurs, it will accompany those mud rains.
Specifically, the Celia storm —which entered the southwest on Sunday— will leave this Tuesday strong wind or with strong intervals in the Canary Islands, the Balearic Islands, the eastern peninsular façade, the east of the southern plateau, the Galician coast, the Pyrenees and the eastern Cantabrian Islands, as well as intense rainfall in Andalusia.
Due to the strong wind and rough sea, the Aemet has put Andalusia, Aragon, the Balearic Islands, Castilla-La Mancha, Catalonia, Galicia, the Region of Murcia, Navarra, the Basque Country and the Valencian Community on a yellow or orange warning for this Tuesday.
There will be a drop in temperatures in Andalusia and a general increase in the rest of the Peninsula, which will be notable in much of the north of the peninsula and even extraordinary in the northern plateau; few changes in the archipelagos, except in the Balearic Islands, where the minimums will rise. The frosts will occur in high points of the Pyrenees, Sierra Nevada, western Cantabrian and the Canary Islands.
