Oscar Arellano, new CEO of Digicel Panama

Oscar Arellano, the current Director of Operations of Digicel Panama, was promoted to CEO of the digital operator, ensuring the continuity of a winning strategy.

The announcement occurs after Ana Patricia Salazar decide to leave the company for new opportunities in your working life.

Digicel Panama highlights the great contribution of Ana Patricia Salazar to the brand and all the achievements obtained even during the pandemic and wishes him the best of success in his new professional challenge. In his replacement he is pleased to report the internal promotion of Oscar Arellano, demonstrating that the company provides opportunities for professional growth.

Arellano will direct the day-to-day operations of the business, to the more than 150 direct employees and more than 2,000 indirect employees. He will report directly to the CEO of the Group and will have full responsibility for the results of the company, where he has been a vital piece in the growth of recent years.

The new CEO of Digicel Panama He is an economist by training with an EMBA from IE Business School in Spain, he has more than 20 years of experience in different industries of cement production, hydrocarbons, consulting and telecommunications.

He has been a member of the company for 6 years, occupying different functions in corporate finance, commercial and operations, both in Digicel Group and in Panama.

Digicel Panama also announces the appointment of José Hormazabal as Director of Operations. Hormazabal is an industrial civil engineer with 26 years of experience, of which 25 years are in the telecommunications industry, where he has held various executive positions in more than 10 Latin American countries, with the objective of generating profound transformations that allow companies to achieve your EBIDTA goals. At Digicel, for 5 years, he has held the positions of regional COO for Panama and El Salvador, CEO Acting for Panama, he is currently the Director of Transformation.

Ana Patricia Salazar joined Digicel Panama in 2017 to start the process of transformation and relaunch of the company, which during the last 4 years has grown continuously. She was in charge of ensuring that the company followed its own growth path during the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring the health of employees and preparing teams for all that transformation. She was recently designated by Forbes Magazine as one of the 100 Most Powerful Women in Central America.
