Panama Cruise Terminal receives its first cruise ship with 662 passengers

The Panama Cruise terminal received two vessels simultaneously, one of them is the Viking Orion from Viking Cruises company, which arrived from the Port of Cartagenas, in Colombia, with 662 passengers on board who disembarked in our country to make various excursions and then go to Puntarenas in Costa Rica.

It should be noted that all its passengers and 438 crew members have a complete vaccination scheme against Covid-19 and They complied with the established rules for entering our country by sea and air.

In the same way, since last November 16, 2021 it has been in the Terminal, the cruise ship Norwegian Sun of the Norwegian Cruise Line only with crew members on board, receiving various maintenance and painting jobs to return to operating soon.

The Director General of Auxiliary Ports and Maritime Industries of the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP), Flor Pitty pointed out that “The work at the Cruise Terminal is 83% complete, only the maritime area is 100% and we estimate that the work is complete.fully completed by September 2022”.

All operations with passengers are carried out in compliance with a biosafety protocol which has been worked on by various State Institutions such as the Ministry of Health (Minsa), the Panama Canal Authority (ACP), Migration, the National Customs Authority (ANA), among others, in addition, the biosecurity procedures of the different companies.

Thus, a safe revival of the cruise season is achieved, energizing the economy directly by generating income and fostering new job opportunities.
