The former Minister of Health and medical director of the San Fernando hospital, José Terán, He affirmed that we are at the door of a fourth wave of coronavirus infections (COVID-19), for which he recommended continuing to comply with the biosecurity measures dictated by the health authorities.

“It is better that we take the necessary precautions about the use of the mask and distancing, or we are simply exposing ourselves to enter that which is affecting Europe and is going to affect us in the part of the possibility of economic recovery,” he said. .

He stated that citizens have the most effective weapon to prevent serious cases and deaths from COVID-19 at the moment, which is the vaccine, so it encouraged the population that has not yet been vaccinated to do so.

He advanced that he celebrates the decision that the Ministry of Health (Minsa) on Sunday, to allow vaccination (booster doses) to all those over 18 years of age, whether or not they have some type of medical history, which will help a lot because this population requires it.

The doctor did not rule out that a fourth dose of vaccines could be announced.

“There will be a fourth dose, probably, as has happened with most vaccines that every so often you have to apply a booster dose to be effective and protect,” he explained.

Terán pointed out that the vaccine is preventing people from entering intensive care rooms or dying, for this reason, our figures in Panama have decreased.
