Panshir, the anti-Taliban roar

A week after the Taliban victory, only one province in Afghanistan is out of the emirate’s control. The Panshir, the mythical valley located north of the capital resists and from there Ahmad Masud and Vice President Amrullah Saleh call on the Afghans to take up arms against the Islamists. In these first days they have mobilized their followers and liberated at least one district from enemy hands, but without outside help their mission has no chance of succeeding against the Taliban reinforced by the speed with which they have managed to subdue the harmless Afghan Army.
