“Deaf, dyke, feminist and stubborn, that’s how I am, no matter how much it weighs on the cave.” The Unides Podem-Esquerra Unida candidate for mayor of Valencia, Pilar Lima, defends herself against the mockery of El Hormiguero. The program hosted by Pablo Motos mocked the Valencian candidate for her deafness and sexual orientation, using her presentation by Irene Montero, who promoted her as “deaf and dyke” mayor. As a result of this speech, a collaborator of the program, Miguel Lago, said: “As anything goes, start missing: here he is lame…”, between laughs on the set.
The candidate, who is studying legal actions against the program, has responded to the presenter in a video on her social networks. “Unides Podem was born with the aim of breaking down barriers and also making courageous policies that turn the nose of the powerful. Nothing hurts the patriarchy more than seeing a woman who has had to overcome all kinds of obstacles to reach the top in this way, ”defends the candidate.
The video ends with a call to attention to the communicator: “Pablo Motos, from here, from Valencia, the deaf and the dyke invites you to the 21st century; open your mind, dear.

From the purple formation they have charged against the mockery of the Antena 3 program, which they consider a “contempt” towards their candidate: “They laugh at the possibility that a deaf and dyke woman may be mayoress”, said Ángela Rodríguez, Secretary of State of Equality. The candidate of Unides Podem-Esquerra Unida, Pilar Lima, has indicated today that her formation is studying legal measures against the program, in addition to measures through the supervisory bodies of the media.
Our candidate for mayor of Valencia @pilar_lima may be the first deaf mayoress of Valencia.
That’s why it makes me deeply embarrassed to have to hear these hateful comments towards her on television.
My strongest condemnation and all my support for Pilar. pic.twitter.com/i0JtLAtZ4l

Through a statement, Lima points out that “it is worrying that programs in prime time watched by millions of families and young people laughingly discriminate against Lgtbi+ people and people with disabilities, we are not the subject of jokes, we are people with all political rights and we can be mayors, of course we can”. The candidate and former parliamentary spokesperson considers that “because of behaviors such as that of these intoxicators, bullying and discrimination exist and we must fight them with all the tools, because of attitudes like this, we must apply the LGBTI law to the maximum and from Valencia.”
