The best pokémon against Giovanni (July 2021)

Giovanni carries three Pokémon, so the confrontation is divided into three phases. The first will always be Persian, which is a normal type. The second can be Nidoking, of poison type, Kangaskhan, of normal type or Garchomp, of dragon and earth type. The last pokémon in July 2021 is dark Ho-Oh, of the fire and flying type.

Strategy to beat Giovanni (July 2021)

Since combat starts with Persian, it is best to start with a fighting type Pokémon such as Lucario, Machamp, or Conkeldurr. In Lucario’s case, moves like Counterattack and Aural Sphere will be very useful. If your option is Machamp, try Dynamic Fist. Using Conkeldurr, try True Wave.

For the second, the strategy will depend on the pokémon that Giovanni chooses. However, since two of them are Earth-type (Nidoking and Garchomp), one ice-type will be useful, especially since Garchomp, being the dragon-type, has a double weakness. In any case, if Kangaskhan is the chosen one, Lucario, Machamp or Conkeldurr will also be useful. For Nidoking and Garchomp, Mamoswine with Powder Snow and Avalanche is a useful option, Weavile with Frozen Edge also works, while Galar’s Darmanitan with Ice Fang or Ice Fist should work well. In Nidoking’s case, a Pokémon like Mewtwo with Confusion and Piscocorte should help you succeed.

How to beat Giovanni’s Dark Ho-Oh

How to beat Dark Ho-Oh in Pokémon Go

During July 2021, Giovanni’s third Pokémon will be Dark Ho-Oh, a legendary Fire and Flying Pokémon. Take your best rock-type pokémon (Rampardos, Rhyperior, Tyranitar, Terrakion and Aerodactyl are your best options), since due to its combination of types, it has a quadruple weakness (x4) to attacks such as Avalanche, Sharp Rock or Anti-aircraft. Sure, Ho-Oh will attack you with moves like Dauntless Bird or Flare, which while not effective against rock-type Pokémon, remember that you are facing a legendary bird.
