Province of Buenos Aires closes 2021 with its best mining indicators in recent years

Between January and November 2021, an increase of 46% is observed compared to 2020, and the more than 19,920,000 tons transported in those eleven months would indicate that the province will exceed 20 million transported in 2017 and 2018.

2021 has presented in the months of March, June and November moments of increase in inter-monthly production greater than 15% and decreases that do not represent large drops, reflecting the sustained recovery beyond the variations typical of each month depending on the characteristics of activity.

The variation of the PTM between 2020 and 2021, on the other hand, presents great modifications in most of the minerals, being able to observe in some cases that the growth was close to 100% and even reached almost 200% in the case of the uncovering of quarry, which is explained by the new awards granted to Mining Producers in the central zone during 2021.

Mining activity in the province in November reached the best figures of the last 24 months, reaching 2,187,674 transported tons of minerals, where crushed granite reflected the highest production, as it happens historically, and is followed by the selected soils, rough, clay and various clays.

River sands, which are not one of the most important mining products in the province, also registered increases in the records of more than 200% in November in relation to the same period of 2020, which shows the increase that has been taking place. during this 2021, mainly due to the reinforcement of the inspection in the northern part of the province.

According to information from the Ministry, the central region continues to lead the Buenos Aires mining ranking and represents almost 90% of the total transported in the province, where the municipality of Olavarría was the one with the highest produced-transported mining activity during 2021, representing more than 40% of the total annual production, with an increase of 51% relative to 2020.
