Radicals harass the son of the leader of the Basque PP in a soccer match: “We are going to burn you alive with your fucking father”

Bilbao’s Askartza and Gernika Sporting played the final of the Preferential Cup last Saturday, when a group of radicals insisted on making the game bitter for Mikel Iturgaiz, player of the first team. The young man, 23, and son of Carlos Iturgaiz, president of the Basque PP, received all kinds of insults for ideological reasons. In addition, after the end of the meeting, the radicals entered the field with the intention of attacking him, according to the arbitration act advanced by ‘El Correo’.

“Shitty little girl, we are going to kill you! We are going to burn you alive with your fucking father!” Were some of the insults they uttered against the young man. Iturgaiz son denounced what he experienced on his Twitter account and called “outrageous” the treatment received by “a bunch of rude people.” He also wanted to thank the players of the rival team, Gernika Sporting, for the support they gave him, as well as the performance of the refereeing trio.

In addition to the insults received, once the final whistle of the match sounded, part of the group of radicals headed to the field, at which point Mikel Iturgaiz had to be escorted to the changing rooms by a group of friends. “It is not that it bothers, it is that this cannot happen today. RESPECT! It does not matter what each one thinks. Let’s create a better society,” he wrote on the social network.

For their part, sources from the Biscayan Football Federation have explained to elDiario.es/Euskadi that throughout this week the competition committee will meet to determine if there is any sanction for what happened.

After knowing the facts, many popular leaders and other groups have expressed their solidarity with the young man. “You have our full support in the face of the wretched who threaten you. Even if they insult us, we will not stop defending Spain and freedom in the Basque Country. And I hope that Justice will make them pay for their harassment. We are proud of you, as we are of your father. “, has defended this Tuesday through Twitter the president of the PP, Pablo Casado.

The Basque PP has also condemned the threats and insults. The training spokesperson, Laura Garrido, stressed that these events “unfortunately denote that there are still traces of hatred in Euskadi towards those who think differently. Especially towards those who feel Basque and Spanish.” For this reason, he has urged all the Basque institutions and society to condemn “these persecutory acts for ideological reasons that of course have no place in our society.”

The Basque Government has also joined the condemnations. The spokesman, Bingen Zupiria, has censored the facts, endorsing the words of the young man. “He said that it is not normal and it cannot be, that they address a fellow man in those terms. We should not diminish any importance. It is a serious fact to maintain an atmosphere of tension and division in Basque society,” said the counselor, too. of Culture and Sports.

It is not the first time, moreover, that Mikel Iturgaiz denounces the harassment of the radicals. The young man explained on October 11, also through Twitter, that the rear-view mirrors of the car had been smashed. “I want to denounce that I continue to suffer harassment from some scoundrels who, because I am the son of who I am and give my opinion, do not stop fucking my life,” he said before the attack suffered and after which he also received the support of Casado and other leaders of the PP.
