Now the same company has introduced the best competitor in another laptop, the Razer Blade 14, which packs tons of power into a smaller frame. So that you do not suffer in deciding which one suits you, we face the Razer Blade 14 vs. Razer Blade 15 comparing them in design, performance, specifications, screen and portability.

The Razer Blade 14 and 15 are almost identical machines in their aesthetics and construction. Starting with looks, they both sport the typical Razer Blade all-black aluminum exterior, the green snake logo, and none of the aggressive trim and ventilation you’ll find on other gaming laptops.

Either machine looks like a “normal” laptop, with a refined and conservative design that is both elegant and simple; in fact, when you see it, it will remind you of the MacBook line.

Both are equally well built, with a stiff chassis and the kind of build quality that exudes confidence. You won’t find any bending or twisting, and in this sense, they are once again virtually identical. That’s a very good thing, especially given that these are expensive laptops.

The biggest difference is in their respective sizes. The Razer Blade 14 is smaller, built around its 14-inch screen. It’s 1.5 inches less wide, about half an inch less deep, and only a fraction of an inch thinner at 0.66 inches compared to the 0.67-inch Blade 15.

The Razer Blade 14 is also lighter at 3.92 pounds, very respectable for a high-powered gaming laptop, while the Razer Blade 15 weighs an equally respectable 4.4 pounds.

Both laptops have similar keyboards that offer excellent travel and a nimble mechanism that is precise and exact for both productive typing and gaming.

There’s also customizable per-key RGB backlighting with more brightness levels than you’ll find on the typical Windows 10 laptop. If there’s a complaint, it’s that the keys are a bit small, but that’s finicky. Both laptops enjoy excellent keyboards.

Its touchpads are excellent too, at decent sizes (the Razer Blade 15 is larger, of course) with a smooth and precise glass surface. Touch panel drivers Microsoft Precision they are available to allow reliable compatibility with multiple Windows 10 gestures. There are no complaints here.

Connectivity is the biggest difference between these two laptops. The Razer Blade 14 has two USB-A 3.2 ports, two USB-C 3.2 ports (no Thunderbolt support due to the AMD chipset), a full-size HDMI 2.1 port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. There is no SD card reader, which will disappoint the creators.

The Razer Blade 15 is equipped with three USB-A 3.2 ports, two USB-C with Thunderbolt 4, a proprietary power port, a full-size HDMI 2.1 port, an SD card reader, and a 3.5mm audio jack. Both laptops feature the latest in wireless connectivity with Wifi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.

The Razer Blade 15 offers a wide variety of Intel processors, mostly 11th generation models, from the Core i7-10750H to the Core i9-11900H. GPU options include the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060, the RTX 3070, and the RTX 3080.

It comes in Basic and Advanced versions that allow buyers to mix and match components for an optimal price-performance ratio. The Razer Blade 14, on the other hand, has just three configurations, all with the AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX processor and with the same GPU options as the 15-inch model.

Sure, the Razer Blade 15 has some powerful components, but what is more surprising is the amount of power that Razer managed to pack into the Razer Blade 14 in a smaller footprint.

We reviewed the previous generation Razer Blade 15 with the Core i7-10875H processor and RTX 2080 Super Max-Q GPU, as opposed to the Razer Blade 14 with Ryzen 9 5900HX and RTX 3070.

While the new Razer Blade 15 would likely be more competitive, in our tests the Razer Blade 14 was only slightly slower in actual gaming benchmarks.

It scored 8,605 points in the 3DMark Time Spy test compared to 7,637 for the Blade 15. In Civilization VI, the Razer Blade 15 hit 159 FPS at 1080p and average graphics versus the Blade 14 at 126 FPS. On Battlefield v, the Blade 15 achieved 122 FPS at 1080p and medium graphics, compared to the Blade 14’s 115 FPS.

Frankly, this is not a very meaningful comparison because many components are different. Still, the Blade 14 is to be commended for its gaming performance, and it can be configured with an RTX 3080 GPU for even better performance.

When it comes to processor-intensive tasks, the Razer Blade 14 will be faster in most cases. The Ryzen 9 5900HX features eight cores and 16 threads, more than all the Razer Blade 15 options except for the eight-core 16-thread Core i9-11900H.

In our handbrake test encoding 420MB video as H.265, the Blade 14 finished in just 101 seconds, compared to 134 seconds for the Blade 15. We don’t have the Core i9-11900H in our base of data, but it will likely work in a similar way.

In Cinebench R23, the Blade 14 achieved an impressive 1,434 single-core and 11,226 multi-core points, compared to the Blade 15 with 1,202 and 6,166. Again, the higher-end Blade 15 is likely to compete harder, but the Blade 14 is a high-speed laptop.

Unless you’re a (almost) pro gamer, the Blade 14 will provide all the power you need in a compact package. You can probably set the Blade 15 to be a bit more, or just as fast, but you will carry a much larger and heavier machine with you.

If you check out Razer’s setup page for the Blade 15, you’ll find an incredible variety of displays available. There is a Full HD version with a refresh rate of 360 Hz, a QHD version with 240 Hz, a QHD display with 165 Hz, a 4K OLED option with 60 Hz, and a Full HD panel with 144 Hz.

The choice is great, but keep in mind that these displays are split between basic and advanced models, and you may not get the processor / GPU combination you want with the display you prefer. The Blade 14 offers just two displays, a Full HD version with 144 Hz in the lower-end model and a QHD version with 165 Hz in the two higher-end options.

Regardless of your choice, you are practically guaranteed to get excellent quality. We tested the Blade 15 with the discontinued 300Hz Full HD display which offered an average (but good) color width, good accuracy, a 1,010: 1 contrast ratio and its only weakness was the 301 nits of brightness (just above it). of our preferable 300).

The Blade 14 we reviewed had the QHD display at 165Hz and offered surprisingly wide colors at 90 percent AdobeRGB and 100 percent sRGB (good enough for creators), very good color accuracy, but again relatively bright. low at 315 nits and a disappointing 830: 1 contrast ratio.

Any of the available screens will provide an excellent gaming experience and a pleasant and productive work environment. Namely, with the exception of the Blade 15’s 4K OLED screen which is limited to 60Hz, that screen’s colors, brightness, and contrast will be better suited for creative types than gamers.

Clearly, the Razer Blade 14 is the most portable machine, being small and quite light. The Blade 15 is equivalent to other 15-inch non-gaming laptops, which means it will be heavier and take up more space in your backpack. Given all the power available with the Razer Blade 14, you’re really not compromising on improved mobility that much.

Battery life is difficult to compare, given the variation in components. The Razer Blade 14 has a 62W battery, which is not much for the screen, processor and GPU that you can configure.

Still, we saw impressive battery life from the smaller machine, all things considered. It lasted three hours longer than the Blade 15 with its 80W battery in our video loop test (11.5 hours) and roughly the same difference in our web browsing test where the Blade 14 achieved 8.25 hours.

Neither of these are impressive scores compared to premium productivity laptops, but they’re great for gaming machines. Clearly, the Blade 14 manages to squeeze more longevity out of its battery than the Blade 15.

Not only is the Blade 14 small and light, it also lasts longer on a charge. That makes it the most portable gaming machine by far.

The Razer Blade 14 is the best gaming laptop

The Razer Blade 14 starts at $ 1,800 for an AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX processor, 16GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD, an RTX 3060, and a 144Hz Full HD display. It has a maximum of $ 2,800 for the Same processor, RAM, and storage, but with a 165Hz QHD display and an RTX 3080.

The Razer Blade 15 can be had for just $ 1,700 with a Core i7-10750H, 16GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD, a 144Hz Full HD display, and a GPURTX 3060. At the higher end, you’ll spend up to $ 3,400. bucks for a Core i9-11900H, 32GB of RAM, 1TB SSD, OLED 4K 60Hz touchscreen, and RTX 3080.

In the end, unless you really want the OLED screen and Intel processor to be available with the Razer Blade 15, the Blade 14 is the best option. It’s (slightly) less expensive, much easier to transport, and offers excellent gaming, productivity, and creative performance to suit the needs of all types of users. The Razer Blade 14 is an astonishing achievement, and it wins this head-to-head comfortably.
