An earthquake measuring 4.5, located in Villa de Mazo and 37 kilometers deep, this Thursday, at 2:27 a.m. (local time), is pointed out as the largest earthquake recorded since the volcanic catastrophe began in La Palma, after breaking the record set yesterday by another tremor of 4.4 on the mbLg scale.
New evacuation in Los Llanos due to the advance of the wash further northwest
The first hours of this Thursday are being very busy on the pretty island, with 56 earthquakes from 00:00 to 07:15. Two of them have been aimed above magnitude 4. In addition to the previous one, a few seconds before another of 4.1 was pointed, also in Mazo and 37 kilometers deep.
The fifty earthquakes have been located between Fuencaliente and Mazo at depths ranging from four kilometers to 37.
Last night, the Special Plan for Civil Protection and Emergency Assistance for Volcanic Risk of the Canary Islands (Pevolca) ordered a new evacuation in a population center of Los Llanos de Aridane in which some 25 people reside “due to the anticipated advance of the laundry of lava that runs further northwest and its proximity to the boundary zone of the perimeter that has already been evacuated, ”he reported in a press release.
Specifically, they proceeded to evacuate the area to the south of the Camino de La Cruz Chica at the junction with the Camino Los Campitos, following the Camino Morro Cabrito until reaching the LP-2 highway.
