Ryanair unions announce 12 more days of strike in July

The Ryanair unions have called twelve more days of strike for their cabin crew during the month of July, after the 6 days of strikes that they have carried out and that ended this Saturday.

In a statement sent this Saturday, the calling unions USO and Sitcpla announce new strike days on July 12, 13, 14, 15, 18, 19, 20, 21, 25, 26, 27 and 28 at the ten Spanish airports where Ryanair operates.

The unions and crew of Ryanair explain that, in this way, they protest again and demand from the airline “a change of attitude” so that it resumes the negotiation of a collective agreement “that includes decent working conditions and under Spanish law for their workers.”

USO and SITCPLA demand that the Government and, specifically, the Minister of Labor and Social Economy, Yolanda Díaz, “not allow Ryanair to violate labor legislation and constitutional rights such as the right to strike and act against a company that does not abide by the judicial sentences, does not comply with the law and uses fear, coercion and threats with its employees”.

In statements to the media, the general secretary of USO at Ryanair, Lidia Arasanz, has assured that the unions “have been forced” to call new strike days after the six days of strike that have generated 200 cancellations so far and nearly a thousand delays across the country.

Likewise, he has criticized “the impassivity of the company for not listening to its workers and preferring to leave thousands of passengers on the ground rather than sit down to negotiate an agreement under Spanish law.”

The 12 new strike days will be, like the previous ones, 24 hours long and all Ryanair workers in Spain are called to support them.

“We hope that the next ones are exactly the same as these because the workers have not stopped fighting for their rights and the company must listen to them and sit down at the table” to resume the negotiation of the collective agreement, Arasanz has claimed.

In this sense, it has urged the Ministry of Labor to intervene because Ryanair “is violating the right to strike” and has asked it to act against a company that does not abide by court rulings, does not comply with the law and uses fear, coercion and threat with its employees“.

“We are not third party workers and we deserve the same right as any worker in the Spanish State”, he said.

Ten cancellations at Ryanair and 5 at EasyJet this Saturday

Until 1:00 p.m., 10 flights have been canceled and there have been 123 delays in this sixth day of strike by Ryanair cabin crew at the airline’s ten bases in Spain despite having a minimum service of 100%.

This strike day at Ryanair coincides with the second, out of a total of nine, of the cabin crew of the British low-cost company EasyJet, who have been called by the USO union for days 1, 2, 3, 15, July 16, 17, 29, 30 and 31 at Malaga, El Prat and Palma de Mallorca airports.

At EasyJet, there have been 5 cancellations and 52 flight delays until 1:00 p.m. this Saturday.

The general secretary of USO at EasyJet, Miguel Galán, has assured that this Saturday’s session “is being supported by the vast majority of cabin crew” at all bases, especially in Malaga, where 50% of flights have been cancelled. the flights.

And all this, “despite the abusive minimum services applied by EasyJet”.
