The Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, announced this Sunday “the second step” of the Reconstruction Plan for La Palma: 200 million euros for those affected by the La Palma volcano eruption.
Next Tuesday, in a Council of Ministers, a decree-law will be approved with a “very powerful” package of measures for “the reconstruction of infrastructures, the answer to the problem of water supply, also employment, agriculture, tourism or tax benefits, “said Sánchez.
These aid are in addition to the 10.5 million for homes and basic necessities approved by the Executive last week, when it also declared the island a catastrophic area.
Sánchez has detailed that the mixed commission created last Tuesday and led by the Minister of the Presidency, Felix Bolaños, has been fundamental as a “governance mechanism to offer answers.” And during this week, ten ministries have worked together to develop the measure package.
Sánchez has made the announcement of this new economic item during a press conference at the Salazar Palace, in Santa Cruz de La Palma. He has been accompanied by the President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, and the leader of the Cabildo de La Palma, Mariano Zapata.
