Schlage just released its Encode Plus smart lock, which is compatible with Apple’s household keys feature in the Wallet app on iPhone and Apple Watch. This new device is already available in various stores in the United States for a value of $300 dollars.
It is one of the first smart locks to take advantage of Apple’s Home Key standard, which was announced last year. According to the company, unlocking the Encode Plus is as easy as touching the phone or watch against the keyboard and waiting for the green light to come on. No more opening an app, turning on a button, or unlocking your smartphone. According to the creators of this tool, the procedure would be similar to buying something with Apple Pay.
It should be remembered that the Encode Plus is not exclusive to the apple company since it can also work with the Android system through the Schlage application and can be integrated with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
In any case, those who developed this lock recommend using it with the iPhone or an Apple Watch since that way you can get the most out of the application. The smart lock also has a pin pad for guests or family members who don’t have a phone.
It is worth remembering that Apple’s home keys feature allows you to add a key card to the Wallet application, thus eliminating the need for a physical key.
