American forces have fired shots into the air in the kabul airport before the avalanche of civilians tried to flee from Afghanistan by the arrival of the Taliban. According to a US official, the shot (speaking in the singular) was fired to prevent hundreds of people from running towards the airstrip. “The crowd was out of control (…). The shot was only fired to calm the chaos», Picks up the Reuters agency.

The first images arriving from the Kabul airport show dozens, perhaps hundreds, of people occupying the airport before even dawn. US troops are in charge of the airport, assisting in the evacuation of embassy personnel and other civilians following the arrival of the Taliban in the country’s capital on Sunday.
